Payments and subscriptions for SaaS companies
Manage software payments with subscriptions, local methods and failed-payment follow-up. Shape the flow around your business model and operating markets.
A subscription starts with a payment. The relationship continues at each renewal.
For SaaS, billing does not end at signup. Plan selection, recurring charges, failed attempts and account status need to work together. A customer who wants to keep using the product needs a clear next step when a payment fails.
Rebill provides subscriptions, recurring billing and payment recovery. Define billing frequency, supported methods and the connection between payment status and product access, without assuming every billing model is available in every market.
Payment journeys
A flow for each way you sell

Product signup
Connect signup to confirmation of the first payment. Before activating an account, define which status grants access and how to handle an attempt that has not yet completed.

Activate according to status

Periodic renewal
Schedule billing at the frequency agreed with the customer. Product and support teams need to distinguish an active subscription, a pending payment and a cancelled subscription.

Payment recovery
A billing failure alone does not explain customer intent. Combine available recovery capabilities with follow-up and a clear policy for maintaining or suspending access.

Recovery and follow-up
Confirm payment or take account action
Reference workflows: final scope depends on your operation and availability.
Capabilities
From the first payment to the next renewal
Recurring payments
Connect periodic collection with your service cycle. Confirm frequency, currency and compatible payment methods before activating a subscription.

A decline does not always mean a customer wants to cancel. Explore retries and follow-up to distinguish a payment issue from voluntary cancellation.

Real customer experiencesHenry: automated collection for an education business
Henry uses subscriptions, payment links and retries to manage collections. Its experience illustrates how automation and support can work together when a service continues beyond the first payment.
A transferable EdTech example: it illustrates recurring-payment capabilities, not a SaaS case or a recovery estimate for your business.

Operations and integration
Separate retention, billing and product access
A voluntary cancellation and a declined payment need different responses. Review failed attempts alongside subscription status and retain a reference that lets support understand what happened without reconstructing the entire transaction.
Before integration, agree how to handle cancellations, plan changes and pending payments. If your model needs usage-based billing, prorations or specific invoicing rules, validate that scope with Rebill; subscription support alone does not imply those capabilities.

Frequently asked questions
Do all local methods support automatic subscriptions?
Do not assume that a method available for one-off payments supports recurring charges. Confirm compatibility by country and payment flow with Rebill.
Do retries guarantee payment recovery?
No. Recovery depends on the reason for the decline, the payment method and configuration. Other customers’ results are not a guarantee.
Does Rebill replace access management for my software?
Payments and product access are connected processes. Your application must define how it uses payment states to manage the service.
What should my application do when a charge fails?
Define an access and follow-up policy before integration: a declined attempt, a cancelled subscription and a suspended account are different states. Use the payment result to trigger the appropriate process and validate available recovery options with Rebill.
Can I implement usage-based billing or prorations?
Confirm that scope for your business model. Subscription and recurring-payment capabilities do not automatically imply usage metering, prorations or every invoicing rule. Share examples of your plans, changes and renewals to assess the integration.
